Is it okay to give consolation money to my friend?

Death is an inenvitable thing that is part of our lives. My friend lost his cousin and I was thinking of giving a consolation money to the funeral as a way of giving help. But I am half-hearted in doing it since it might look rude for her. Can someone please give an opinion about this issue that might help me decide on what to do?

It is not considered rude to give a consulation money especially if the family directly said that they need financial help. But if there is no note regarding the need of help, it will be more safe to just give the family of your friend flowers or any material thing. And since she was your friend, you might be able to deduct if she will get offended if you give consolation money.
